TIBA works within an Anishnaabe Clan system as a model of governance to ensure interconnected relationships, participation and inclusion of multiple gifts and voices. It is represented by a 7-pointed Star; symbolic of the relations and communications between the 7 Clans. You do not need to have a Clan or know your Clan to be a member. Clan governance focuses on the gifts members bring. Each Clan’s gifts focuses on an area of the community. This connects members with others sharing similar skills and ensures activities, operations and decision-making grow community as a whole.

TIBA is currently an incorporated not-for-profit with 3 directors (Johl Ringuette, Ramona Reece, Mike Carlson) and a core of dedicated volunteers.
